Vision
The Bodega de Edgar Rose is 90% Grenache and 10% Tempranillo. All the fruit came from Paperstreet Vineyard in the Willow Creek District. The rose had minimal skin contact (wine was on the skins for less than 30min.), and is done in a more elegant style than in the past. It was fermented and aged in neutral french oak barrels to maintain and express their true varietal character.
Vintage Notes
Firstly the 2023 vintage was fantastic for the whites and roses. Lots of winter rain and a much cooler growing season meant a longer hang time with lower sugar accumulation. Ultimately it allowed us to get a more fully evolved wine with great acidity and lower alcohol.
Tasting Notes
In classic Grenache fashion, rose pedal, fresh strawberries, and ripe watermelon all effortless come through on the nose. The pallate exudes a viscous texture with enough acidity to maintain freshness throughout the finish. A concentration of grapefruit, white peach, and nectarine amplify this rose’s already drinkable nature.
