2021 La Milla
  • Vision

At Bodega de Edgar, we’ve taken this remarkable vintage a step further. For the first time, we’ve set aside a special barrel of each wine from our Homage to Spain series and aged them for an additional six months.

The result? Even more depth, complexity, and elegance.

We’ve bottled these exceptional wines in magnums, not just for their grandeur, but to enhance their aging potential and create a truly unforgettable wine experience. The larger format allows the wine to mature more gracefully, ensuring it’s even more perfect for those future family and friend gatherings or upcoming holiday celebrations.

Each magnum is hand-labeled and individually numbered—making this a rare opportunity to own a piece of our winery’s history. Don’t miss out on the chance to bring these beautiful wines to your next special occasion.

Celebrate with family, and make memories with a bottle that promises to improve with time.

  • Vintage Notes

Overall, thanks to a relatively temperate growing season, the timing of the 2021 harvest is about a week or two later than in recent years, with most growers pulling the first of the core white wine grapes in late August. While the region has seen smoke from wildfires up north, it didn't affect the vineyards in Paso Robles.

The ongoing drought conditions are presenting growers with a double-edged sword of sorts. The good news is the dry conditions this vintage created smaller, more concentrated grapes, which is ideal for winemaking. While yields are lower, it produces more flavors, bolder colors, strong acidity, and manageable tannins. These conditions have winemakers feeling it's an epic vintage for quality.

  • Tasting Notes

The story begins the moment you uncork the bottle. As the wine spills into your glass, it introduces itself with a powerful nose—an intoxicating bouquet that makes you pause, just to take it all in. The dark chocolate is the first to speak, rich and indulgent, followed closely by bourbon-soaked cherries that feel like an invitation to linger. As you breathe deeper, hints of toasted coconut, vanilla, and a dash of exotic spice twirl together like a finely choreographed dance, creating a scent that is both luxurious and comforting.

Take a sip, and the story continues. The wine's soft tannins are like a smooth, velvety whisper on the tongue, while its bright acidity adds a delightful tension, balancing out the richness of the fruit. It’s a dance of contrasts—intense yet approachable, bold yet refined. The subtle baking spices—cinnamon, a touch of clove, maybe even a hint of nutmeg—make their presence felt, rounding out the flavor profile with a warmth that lingers long after the sip has faded.

With each taste, you feel the complexity unfolding, layers revealing themselves one after another, inviting you to savor and discover more. It’s a wine that’s both approachable and endlessly intriguing, a perfect reflection of Paso Robles’ charm and Jumilla’s spirit.
